The IAWA Small Collections was compiled from a variety of sources by Special Collections staff for use in reference and research. The collection consists primarily of biographical materials for women architects, architectural historians, and designers including curriculum vitas, firm brochures, exhibit notices, photographs, and publications. Drawings, sketches, course notes, correspondence, and other materials pertaining to architectural collections are also present.

Joy Wheeler Dow was an architect and author. He was born in 1861 and grew up in New York City. He became an architect in 1890. He was widely known for work in Michigan, Connecticut, and New Jersey, and was one of the first to apply traditional architectural designs to small homes. Anna Keichline (b. May 24, 1889, Bellefonte, PA-d. Feb. 5 1943, Bellefonte, PA) was an architect, inventor, suffragist, and World War I Special Agent. At age 14 she won a prize for a table and chest she made at a county fair. She was the fifth woman to receive an architecture degree from Cornell University (1911).
